İhsanbey MosqueShare on Facebook Share on Twitter
The mosque was built by Esenbek, son of Ertene in the mid 14th Century. It has several similar-sounding names; Esenbek, İhsan Bey and Hasan Bey.
The mosque is rectangular in design, divided widthways into two sections, each running parallel to the kiblah (direction of Mecca). The north face and the portal are covered with black and white stones. The minaret was built in the courtyard, separate from the mosque. Above the minaret gallery is a dome, inside the wooden, eaved covering, but there is no top cone on the minaret. The "muqarnas" (a type of corbel used as a decorative device in traditional Islamic architecture) under the gallery is noted for its characteristic stonework.
